Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at London Kids School, Ekatmata Nagar, Nagpur

  • Dr. Suchitra Nayak, Director of London Kids School in Ekatmata Nagar, Nagpur, invited Mr. Bulu Behera, a transplant coordinator from the MOHAN Foundation, to deliver a talk on organ donation during their anniversary celebration on June 9, 2024.

    Mr. Behera covered several key points in his presentation, including the definition of organs, eligibility criteria for donors, types of death, organs and tissues that can be donated in cases of brain death and natural death, differences between organs and tissues, age limits for donors, procedures for eye and body donation, live and cadaver transplant processes, regulations under the Organ Transplant Act 1994, guidelines from NOTTO, ROTTO, SOTTO, and ZTCC, government support for kidney transplants, procedures for donating organs after death at home, the number of MOHAN Foundation centers in India, and the roles of helpline numbers and donor cards.

    Approximately 20 parents attended the talk, and two of them signed consent forms for organ donation, demonstrating their commitment to this noble cause. Dr. Suchitra Nayak was thanked for her initiative in organizing such an informative session.
