Awareness Session on Organ Donation conducted at St. Joseph’s Degree & PG College, King Koti, Hyderabad

  • On the Occasion of National Blood Donation Day on 14th June 2024, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ donation at students and staff of St Joseph's Degree and PG college at King Koti, Hyderabad. Dr. Bhanu Prakash, Transplant Coordinator was the key speaker.

    The following topics were addressed during the session:

    • What is organ donation? Who can donate an organ?
    • What is brain death and natural death?
    • After brain death, which organs and tissues can be donated?
    • Live person, which organs can be donated, and what are the criteria for a living donation?
    • Information regarding body donation and eye donation
    • What are the legal and ethical implications of organ donation?
    • What does the Transplantation of Human Organs Act of 1994 say about organ donation? 
    • Role of MOHAN Foundation in organ donation?
    • What are the legal and ethical implications of organ donation?
    • What is the criteria for living donation?

    And also Dr. Bhanu spoke about the role of social media in promoting organ donation and highlighted the volunteering opportunities and courses available at MOHAN Foundation. The students enthusiastically posed several questions. Faculty Mrs Shravya and Principal Mr. Anthony Sagaya Raja pledged their organs and appreciated MOHAN foundation’s activities. Close to 70 students and staff were present in the session.
