On July 6, SOTTO Haryana, along with MOHAN Foundation, conducted an awareness session on organ donation at Civil Hospital, Rohtak.
The session began with Dr. Sandeep, Deputy Medical Superintendent (DMS), and senior resident doctors of various specialties posted at Civil Hospital, Rohtak, extending a warm welcome to Ms. Renu Kumari of MOHAN Foundation, Ms. Deepti Kumari, and Mr. Rajesh Kumar of SOTTO Haryana.
Ms. Renu Kumari introduced the MOHAN Foundation and SOTTO Haryana to the audience and discussed the impact of organ donation in saving lives, common misconceptions about it, the functions of NOTTO, ROTTO, and SOTTO, and MOHAN Foundation’s role in promoting organ donation awareness. She also emphasised on the need to create awareness on this very important and underplayed out area in India.
Ms. Deepti provided a thorough explanation of basic concepts of organ donation, its legal implications, the transplant waiting list, the Green Corridor, and how to sign up as an organ donor.
Dr. Sandeep, DMS, encouraged physicians and patients to register as organ donors.
Close to 160 people attended the session. 19 individuals filled up the organ donation Form 7 (Organ Pledging Form) of the Transplantation of Human Organs & Tissues Rules, 2014
