Updated on Tuesday, September 24, 2024
  • On the occasion of Ganpati Bappa Morya at Majestic Heights, Hill Road, Shivaji Nagar, Nagpur, the MOHAN Foundation was invited to set up an organ donation stall in front of the Ganesh Murti. This event took place on September 16, 2024, with participation from Mrs. Veena Wathore, Project Manager of the MOHAN Foundation, and Mr. Bulu J. Behera, Transplant Coordinator. They received support from Mr. Pratap Dewani, who played a key role in organizing the event.

During the stall, Mrs. Wathore provided a brief introduction to the MOHAN Foundation, highlighting its mission and importance in promoting organ donation. Mr. Behera managed the stall, where they shared valuable information with visitors. Topics covered included what organ donation is, who can donate, the types of death relevant to organ donation, and which tissues can be donated in cases of natural and brain death. They also explained the differences between coma and brain death, the time factors for organ transplantation, and the age limits for organ donation. Additionally, they provided insights into body donation, hand transplants, and organizations such as ZTCC, SOTTO, ROTTO, and NOTTO, along with an overview of the Organ Transplant Act of 1994.

Visitors actively engaged with the stall, asking important questions such as how the MOHAN Foundation would know about organ donation after their death, whom to contact at the time of donation, the differences between coma and brain death, and the government provisions for organ transplantation.

In total, approximately 35 visitors attended the stall, with 5 signing consent forms for organ donation and others expressing interest in registering online. A special thanks goes to Mr. Pratap Dewani for organizing such a meaningful and informative program.
