Awareness Session on Organ Donation at GNM Training School, Zonal Hospital Mandi, Himachal Pradesh

  • On 2nd June 2018, MOHAN Foundation was invited by the GNM Training School, Zonal Hospital, Mandi, Himachal Pradesh to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation for their students which was held in a lecture hall. Around 90 students participated in the program.

    Firstly, Aruna Kumari Salwani introduced herself to the students and after that she asked the questions from students to check their knowledge about organ donation and transplantation.

    Participants were given an introduction and presentation on organ donation and brain death by Ms. Aruna Kumari Salwani.

    In this talk she explained the following points: -

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • The status of Organ Donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
    • She challenged 5 myths with 5 facts on Organ Donation
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
    • Real life stories of an organ transplant being shared with the participants
    • Importance of Donor card
    • To pledge their organs they can register at MOHAN Foundation
    • MOHAN Foundation mission & vision

    Questions and discussion after the awareness-

    1. Can the Pancreas regenerate?

    2. Are there any costs to my family for donation?

    All the students were motivated andthey would love to share their wish with their families and sharing the gift of life. 29 students picked up the donor cards.

    At the end of the presentation everyone applaudedand brochures were distributed to all the students.
