Awareness Session on Organ Donation at Asha International Institute of Marine Technology (AIIMT), Belapur, Navi Mumbai

  • On March 29, 2025, an organ donation awareness session was conducted at Asha International Institute of Marine Technology (AIIMT), Belapur, Navi Mumbai, for students of Batch 7 and Batch 8. A total of 32 participants attended the session.

    Ms. Prarthana provided a detailed and insightful presentation, educating students on various aspects of organ donation. She explained the difference between living and deceased organ donation, the types of organs and tissues that can be donated after death, and the distinctions between circulatory death and brain stem death. She also elaborated on the procedure for body donation and its significance in medical research and education.

    In addition, she introduced the students to MOHAN Foundation's initiatives, including the various courses offered on organ donation and transplant coordinator courses how the 24/7 MOHAN Foundation helpline functions, and the process of successful organ or Tissue donations across India.

    The session was highly interactive, with students listening attentively and actively participating in discussions. Many students showed a keen interest in learning more about organ donation. Some raised questions about the MOHAN Foundation courses, their fees, and the enrollment process for becoming a volunteer. Ms. Prarthana addressed these queries, guiding them on how they could contribute to the cause and help spread awareness about organ donation in their communities.

    The session concluded with a strong message on the importance of organ donation and how each individual has the potential to save multiple lives by pledging to be a donor.
