Awareness Session on Organ Donation Conducted at Medical ICU Department of Apollo Hospital, Navi Mumbai

  • On June 1, 2024, MOHAN Foundation conducted a deeply impactful awareness session on Organ Donation at the ICU Department of Apollo Hospital, Navi Mumbai. The session, organized by Sister Rutth and Brother Lakshan, was expertly led by Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi, Public Education Counsellor, aimed at sensitizing the ICU staff.

     

    Topics Covered:

    1. Introduction to MOHAN Foundation and its mission.
    2. Concept of organ donation and its types.
    3. Importance of organ donations from living donors to save family members' lives.
    4. Understanding different types of Death:
      • Brain Death
      • Circulatory Death
    5. Clarifying the distinction between Brain Death and Coma.
    6. Comparison of Living Donor and Deceased Donor contributions.
    7. Dispelling Myths and presenting Facts about Organ Donation.
    8. Significance of the donor card and its role in facilitating organ donation.

     

    The dedicated nursing staff from Medical ICU Departments A & B actively participated in the session, with 48 members enthusiastically engaging in discussions. Informational flyers were distributed, and participants expressed sincere appreciation to Ms. Prarthana for her informative and inspiring session, which not only provided valuable insights but also motivated them to take positive action by pledging to donate organs.

     

    We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sister Rutth and Brother Lakshan for their invaluable support and for graciously allowing us to conduct this session, which we hope will lead to increased awareness and participation in organ donation efforts.
