On March 18, 2025, the MOHAN Foundation conducted an enlightening organ donation awareness session for Batch 5 and Batch 6 students at Asha International Institute of Marine Technology (AIIMT), Belapur, Navi Mumbai.
Ms. Prarthana led the session by introducing the MOHAN Foundation and its dedicated efforts in promoting organ donation. She encouraged the students to share their personal thoughts and feelings about organ donation, creating an open and interactive atmosphere for discussion.
Throughout the session, Ms. Prarthana covered a wide range of essential topics related to organ donation. She explained the concept and procedures involved in body donation, followed by a detailed comparison between brain death and cardiac death, highlighting the significance of each in the context of organ donation. She also provided valuable insights into different types of donors and elaborated on the procedures for eye and skin donation. The session concluded with guidance on how to pledge organs, empowering students to make informed decisions about their potential role in saving lives.
The session sparked lively discussions, with students actively sharing their views and posing insightful questions. Some of the inquiries included, "What is a Green Corridor?" and "How can one approach a skin bank team after cardiac death?"—reflecting their deep engagement and curiosity on the subject.
A total of 48 participants attended the session, embracing the importance of raising awareness and fostering a culture of organ donation. The session was met with appreciation from both the organizers and participants for Ms. Prarthana's commendable efforts in promoting this life-saving cause.
