On January 8, 2025, the MOHAN Foundation had the privilege of conducting an enlightening organ donation awareness session for Batch 1 and Batch 2 students at Asha International Institute of Marine Technology (AIIMT), Belapur, Navi Mumbai.
Ms. Prarthana led the session by introducing the MOHAN Foundation and its dedicated efforts in promoting organ donation. She began by encouraging the students to share their personal thoughts and feelings about organ donation, creating an open and interactive atmosphere for discussion.
Throughout the session, Ms. Prarthana covered a wide range of essential topics related to organ donation. She began by explaining the concept and procedures involved in body donation, followed by a detailed comparison between brain death and cardiac death, underscoring the importance of each in the context of organ donation. Ms. Prarthana also provided valuable insights into various types of donors, and elaborated on the procedures for eye and skin donation. She concluded the session by empowering students with knowledge on how to pledge their organs, encouraging them to make informed decisions about their potential role in saving lives.
The session sparked lively discussions, with students actively expressing their views and posing insightful questions. Some of the inquiries included those about the timeline for whole-body donation and the process for skin donation, which reflected their deep engagement and curiosity on the subject.
The session was attended by total 60 participants to embrace the importance of raising awareness and fostering a culture of organ donation. The session was met with appreciation from both the organizers and participants for her noble work in promoting this life-saving cause.
