More than 500 people took pledge for organ donation on World Organ Donation Day on August 13, with an aim to help those needing organs to save life in Jaipur.

An awareness campaign was organized by an NGO, Mohan Foundation Jaipur Citizen Forum (MFJCF) for encouraging people to donate organs. Neeraj K Pawan, additional mission director of National Health Mission (NHM) reached the Central Park and encouraged people to donate organs to save lives of the people. "We are fortunate as god has made us eligible to do so," he said.

When they interacted with the people during the awareness program, they came to know that most of the people were not aware about the difference between organ donation and cadaver organ donation. "Many of the people, we interacted with, were not aware about cadaver organ donation. So, we told them, if a person is declared brain dead by the hospital's brain death declaration committee, his organs can be harvested with the consent of the family for donation to other patients," said Utpal Rajoria project manager (MFJCF).

To make people aware about cadaver organ donation, the NGO conducted awareness campaign at Central Park, Nehru garden, Ramniwas Bagh and in prominent malls in Malviya Nagar "We make people aware that everyday relatives of a person with brain death can donate his organs to save other's life," he said.

Many people who came for morning walk in Central Park showed enthusiasm towards organ donation. They clicked photos with a message "yes, I am an organ donor, donate organ pass the —life." Also, they signed more than 500 forms taking pledge to donate organ.

Also 60 employees of a pizza chain took participation in a rally organized to create awareness on organ donation. They also took pledge to donate organs.
