6th Annual Transplant Coordinators' Workshop

MOHAN Foundation's Annual Workshop for Transplant Coordinators is aimed at bringing to the fore the exemplary work done by transplant coordinators in the field of deceased organ donation and transplantation. The two-day workshop is being jointly organised by MOHAN Foundation and National Association of Transplant Coordinators (NATCO).
The inaugural function of the 6th Annual Transplant Coordinators' Workshop will be held on Saturday 31st August 2013, 9.30 am - 10.30 am, at Hotel Aadithya, 155/1 Arcot Road, Vadapalani, Chennai. The workshop will be inaugurated by P. K Abdul Rahiman, Head, JBAS Centre for Islamic Studies, University of Madras, along with Dr Ashok Kirpalani, President, Indian Society of Organ Transplantation and Prof. Edward Cole from the University of Toronto.
At the workshop, Transplant coordinators from across India will have a chance to interact with experienced faculty and with another and share their successes and challenges. Special sessions on Islam and Organ Donation, Grief Counselling and Deceased Organ Donation in SAARC countries have been planned. MOHAN Foundation has been training transplant coordinators through structured training courses since December 2009 with the support of the Sir Ratan Tata Trust and Navajbai Ratan Tata Trust, Mumbai. 381 transplant coordinators have been trained so far. From December 2009 to June 2013, they have facilitated the retrieval of 1557 organs and tissues from 272 deceased organ donors across India.
