Donor Memorial

  • Mr. Rakesh Barsagade   - 41 Years

In the heart of Bagadganj, Nagpur, the modest Barsagade family, led by 41-year-old Rakesh Barsagade, a daily laborer, cherished their close-knit bond. Tragedy struck on November 3 when Rakesh, while working at a construction site, suffered a fatal fall. Rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Nagpur, the medical team declared him brain dead. In the midst of grief, MOHAN Foundation's Transplant Coordinator, Ms. Bhagyashree Nighot, guided by Ms. Veena Wathore, delicately discussed organ donation with the family. Overcoming sorrow, Aamrapali, Rakesh's mother, selflessly agreed to donate his organs.

Thanks to the GMCH ICU team's expertise, the organ donation process unfolded seamlessly. Rakesh's liver brought new life to a 68-year-old man, and his corneas bestowed sight to two others. The Barsagade family, in their tragedy, emerged as unsung heroes, symbolizing resilience and compassion. Their story resonated through GMCH Nagpur, exemplifying the profound impact of selfless acts, leaving an enduring mark on those they touched. We salute the Barsagade family for their extraordinary strength in the face of adversity. MOHAN Foundation's Transplant Coordinator at GMCH operates in collaboration with Transplants Help the Poor Foundation.
