Awareness Session organised by Organ Donation Ambassador at Shakuntala Devi Foundation, Stitching Centre Saketri Haryana

On 20th April 2024, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Organ Donation Ambassador Mrs. Parveen Mahajan to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation for the students of SDF, Stitching Centre Saketri Haryana. Around 50 students and member of Shakunatala Devi Foundation attended the session.

 

 Shakunatala Devi Foundation is a Chandigarh based non-profit organization. It is a family run trust working for the empowerment of women. They believe in imparting skills to women so that they become financially independent. The organization is committed for Social Welfare programs, working for women empowerment.

 

At the beginning of the session, Ambassador Mrs. Parveen Mahajan welcomed all the participants.

 

Ms. Neha Sharma began the session by explaining the full form of MOHAN. She informed the audience that MOHAN is not someone’s name but an acronym. She explained the basic concepts of organ donation and transplantation with the help of a simple PowerPoint presentation. The following topics were explained in detail:

  • Eye Donation

 

Neha also explained the process of eye donation. She informed the participants that eye donation is a simple procedure that can be even done at home. She motivated the Participants to begin with promoting eye donation in their respective areas. She also explained the importance of Donor Card. She said that it acts as an icebreaker for the doctors to initiate conversation with the families of a potential brain-dead person for organ donation if a donor card is found on the deceased person. She informed the audience that a donor card must always be carried as it acts as an identity proof and shows a person’s willingness to donate organs upon death.

 

At the end. Mrs. Parveen Mahajan gave the vote of thanks. The entire group got motivated and convinced to support organ donation. All of them pledged for Organ Donation and expressed their views on organ donation.
