MOHAN Foundation participates in Purple Fest, 2024 at Panjim Goa |
From January 6 to 13, 2024, MOHAN Foundation hosted an organ donation information stall at the Purple Fest in Panjim, Goa. The event was organized by the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Government of Goa, in collaboration with the Directorate of Social Welfare, Government of Goa, and the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. The International Purple Fest, at its core, featured 22 Purple Ambassadors, each representing one of the 21 types of disabilities outlined in the RPwD Act, 2016, with a notable emphasis on Spinal Cord Injury. The overarching goal of the Purple Fest was to illustrate how collective efforts can build a welcoming and inclusive world for everyone. Throughout the festival's duration, attendees engaged in compelling panel discussions, enjoyed artistic live performances, explored large exhibitions, and participated in immersive experience zones. The MOHAN Foundation's stall, operational from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, played a pivotal role in raising awareness about organ donation. Mr. Gabriel, stationed at the stall, distributed around 1000 flyers, and effectively communicated the concept of organ donation to visitors. Impressively, 80 individuals pledged to donate their organs because of this initiative.
