On October 22, 2023, Mr. Gabriel Pereira, Organ Donation Ambassador, MOHAN Foundation, set up an organ donation information desk at the blood donation camp organized by St. John the Baptist Church & Caring Souls in collaboration with Manipal Hospital at Pilerne, Bardez, Goa. The camp was held from 9.30 a.m. to 1pm. The camp was supported by Peppy’s Bridal Creations, Porvorim, Goa.

 

The camp was conducted in the church hall, where parishioners were informed beforehand by the parish pastoral council and other groups of the church to attend. Approximately 31 individuals attended the camp, 24 were eligible to donate, and 7 were rejected.

 

Mr. Gabriel displayed two videos on the display: What Is brain death? and a brief animated presentation by Shweta Gupta on organ donation. He distributed approximately forty FAQs and spoke to parishioners about organ donation and why we needed to come forward to pledge.

Mr. Ranjit Rodrigues, the team leader and a member of Caring Souls gave Mr. Gabriel the declaration cum will for whole body donation, he marked this day as it was his birthday.
