The Indian Women's Scientist Association, Kolhapur branch, The Rotary Club of Sangola, Apulki Foundation and the Maharashtra Vigyan Parishad jointly organised an awareness session on organ Donation in association with MOHAN Foundation. 

The webinar was held on Sept 14, 2023 at 3 pm. 20 members attended the session. Dr Hemal Kanvinde, Q&A Officer of MOHAN Foundation was the speaker. 

She spoke of the need for organ donation and the high incidence of organ failure in the country.  She explained when and how donation happens and the difference between brain death and coma.  She then gave examples of organ donors who came from all walks of life. How to pledge as a donor was explained.  Importance of speaking to the family about the wish to continue to live in others was emphasized.  A story of a recipient was related, encouraging the audience to see the impact of a YES. 

She ended the talk with an introduction to the work of MOHAN Foundation. She requested the partners to join hands to create awareness and train themselves well to speak to others about organ donation.  

 Discussion after the talk was on consent, body donation and future plans. One participant revealed that their city has a heart recipient whose surgery happened in Pune and the donor was from Latur.
