On August 26, 2023, Dr. Amol Mahaldar, Coordinator, Organ Donation Cell, of IMA Goa State, invited Mr. Gabriel from the MOHAN Foundation for the Organ Donation awareness talk held at Goa Vidyaprasarak Mandal’s (GVM) Gopal Govind Poy Raiturcar (GGPR) College of Commerce and Economics, Farmagudi, Ponda Goa.

The organ donation awareness programme was held as part of ‘Angadan Mahotsav’ by the College with Indian Medical Association (IMA) Ponda branch, IMA WDW Ponda and Adolescent Health Cell of IMA Goa State, principal, faculty, NSS, and general students.

Mr. Gabriel showed the students a video on brain death and distributed FAQs on organ donation before the session.

Dr. Amol Mahaldar was the speaker of the session. He gave an excellent presentation that covered all the concepts of organ donation and transplantation. He gave satisfying answers to the numerous intelligent queries raised by the students. He also mentioned that a lot of accidents occured when riders don’t wear helmets; they're carried on their elbows, only when they see a traffic police officer that the helmet is put in the right place. An interesting discussion followed the talk.

Dr. Purnima Usgaonker gave a short address, and Prof. Latha Bhat from the college organised the programme. Dr. Vandana Patankar, a palliative care doctor, and Mr. Deepak Kantak, the administrative assistant in charge of Dilasa, were also present.

One of the teachers gave the vote of thanks and mentioned that Mr. Gabriel will call him to conduct more awareness talks with students and faculty.

The programme was attended by 60 students.
