As part of HPCL (Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited)'s Organ donation drive, MOHAN Foundation (the NGO partner) was invited to conduct a virtual awareness talk on organ donation on July 31, 2023.

Ms Jaya Jairam began, Project Director at MOHAN Foundation by appreciating HPCL for leading such a drive to raise awareness amongst its women staff and spouses. She then covered the concepts of organ donation and spoke about its need, what can be donated, by whom and lastly addressed the various myths surrounding the topic. She ended the session with how once can support the cause and encouraged the members to volunteer for the cause and to raise more awareness. Lastly she shared her own story of how she got a kidney from her mother when she was suffering from chronic kidney failure. Many from the audience felt touched and shared their feedback in the platform's chat box.

Some of the participants also shared their heart-warming stories about how they had ended up donating their parent's eyes and how some of them had already pledged their organs. Around 65 women attended the session. Following questions were asked- 

• After organ donation, is the body given back to the families?
• If a person dies in another state, how will MOHAN Foundation coordinate for eye donation?
• Until and unless the family members calls MOHAN Foundation, how will it come to know that the pledger has passed away?
• What is the timeline within which eyes and skin must be donated? 
• Which are the tissues that can be donated at home? 
• How soon must the family members inform MOHAN Foundation or an NGO for donation of eyes and skin?

The queries were satisfactorily answered and many expressed their support to organ donation. MOHAN Foundation is thankful to HPCL and Ms Sreedevi Kaul for organising the session.
