At the 50th blood donation camp organised by Bharat Vikas Parishad at Brahman Dharamshala, Julana, Mr. Rajbir Bhardwaj, President of Bharat Vikas Parishad, invited SOTTO Haryana and MOHAN Foundation to set up an information desk for creating awareness on organ donation for the masses in Julana, Jind, on July 9, 2023.

 

Ms. Renu Kumari, the Project Leader of the MOHAN Foundation, Ms. Deepti Kumari, the Transplant Coordinator, and Mr. Rajesh Bhar, the IEC Consultant of SOTTO Haryana, oversaw an information desk stocked with relevant materials such as information pamphlets, Form 7 for organ and tissue pledging, a standee, and frequently asked questions (FAQ) Flyers.

 

The programme was attended by Mr. Samarjeet, Station House Officer (SHO) of Julana Police Station, Mr. Rajbir Bhardwaj, President, Sunil Sharma, Secretary, and other members of Bharat Vikas Parishad, senior citizens, and the general public from adjacent villages.

 

The team addressed each individual and attempted to address their queries, doubts, and myths, to name a few:

 

• The importance of Organ Donation

• Who can donate, when they can donate, and the donation process?

• Who do I contact regarding organ donation?

 

The team also solicited and encouraged visitors to make organ donation pledges on the same day. Mr. Rajesh Bhar requested that visitors disseminate information about organ donation via Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to reach a larger population.

 

Ms. Renu Kumari thanked Bharat Vikas Parishad Julana for inviting SOTTO Haryana and MOHAN Foundation and providing them with an excellent opportunity to set up an information kiosk for rural organ donation awareness.

 

Nearly 140 individuals were educated about organ donation through the information desk and 59 of them pledged to donate organs upon death.
