Organ donation awareness at Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College (CTTE) for Women |
MOHAN Foundation was given an opportunity to create awareness on Organ Donation and Bedwetting for NSS students on March 29, 2023. 15 NSS Volunteers from different departments of the CTTE college attended the sessions. Ms. Arshiya Fathima. H (Helpline counsellor) and Ms. Yamini M. (Bedwetting counselor) were the resource persons for the sessions. Ms. Arshiya distributed green ribbons and information brochures to all students. The session started with Mrs. Priya, NSS coordinator introducing the work of MOHAN Foundation and the speakers. Ms. Arshiya Fathima began the session with Q&A activity. There were interesting answers from students. This was followed with a talk on the Concepts of Organ Donation and Transplantation which included who, what, when and how donation can happen. Additional information on eye, skin and whole body donation was provided. She also explained brain death and shared a recipient story through a video. Ms. Yamini started the session on Bedwetting she introduced the motive of the project and its mission. She played a video that explained bedwetting followed by an interactive session. She explained about free online course and free counselling provided for both children and parents. At the end of the session Ms. Arshiya invited the volunteers to train as Angels of Change - Program and conducted a quiz. It was an interactive session. Some queries asked by the students: 1. Who keeps the waiting list of organ failure patients? 2. Can poor patients get a transplant since this therapy is so expensive? 3. Doubts regarding courses offered by MOHAN Foundation All doubts were clarified. The session ended with a vote of thanks given by the Mrs. Priya NSS Coordinator.
