Ambassador creates Organ Donation awareness through MOP Community Radio Station |
On World Kidney Day which is celebrated on the second Thursday of March every year, an awareness interview was recorded in MOP Community Radio Station 107.8 FM. The Community radio station is run by the college of MOP Vaishnav College for Women, Nungambakkam and reaches 12 to 15 km around the campus. Ms. Sujatha Suriyamoorthi, Associate Director- Courses, MOHAN Foundation was the resource person. Ambassador Asha Bai, student of the college conducted the interview with Sujatha on 7th March 2023 and broadcasted on 9th March 2023. Basic questions on what is organ donation? Who can donate organs? And when can organs be donated? were answered. The entire interview was conducted in Tamil as most of the community listeners pay attention to Tamil language. And the interview went on for about more than half an hour. As a transplant coordinator she also shared her experience and her role as a coordinator. She also shared one of her experiences which made her emotional. Listening to that example can make every individual think about the need for an organ. She also spoke about the economic factors and about TRANSTAN and the government schemes which gives a confidence for the public to go on for the choice of organ transplantation. The myths on Organ Donation were debunked. In the end Ms. Sujatha briefed about donor cards and how to register it and more information about MOHAN Foundation. She also advised the young community to create more awareness and spread more information on organ donation as they are the future pillars of the society. Overall the interview was very informative to the listeners and this could create a change in the society about organ donation. It was a great opportunity to interview such a great source and it was a pleasure to hear more about organ donation. |
