MOHAN Foundation speaks on Use of Art at the Annual Celebration of Commonwealth Tribute to Life Program |
Commonwealth Day is the annual celebration of the Commonwealth of Nations, since 1977 often held on the second Monday in March. A special webinar was organised by Tribute to Life project to celebrate one year of its activities on March 13, 2023. The agenda had a keynote speech by Dr Osahon Enabulele, (President of World Health Association) on healthcare challenges in the Commonwealth followed by a Panel Discussion on Exploring the challenges of organ donation and transplantation during and after the pandemic, and celebrating the Commonwealth Tribute to Life project. This was chaired by Dr. Dale Gardiner and Ms. Lisa Burnapp of NHSBT. The Tribute to Life project has proposed a Commonwealth Tribute to Life Art competition. To kickstart this program two speakers shared their experiences: Dr Benjamin Ho, Asst Manager, National Organ Transplant Unit, Singapore and Dr Hemal Kanvinde, Q&A Officer, MOHAN Foundation Chennai India. Dr. Hemal spoke of the campaigns done by MOHAN Foundation in association with Chennai Metro Rail Limited by using car park spaces to conduct Rangoli Festivals. This unique street art using natural powders, flowers attract the local communities and makes them realise the value of donation. She gave tips on organisation, getting an inspirational chief guest and using the art to promote organ donation further.
