Organ Donation information desk at a residential complex in Chennai |
The Officer’s Colony Association, Porur organized a free multi-specialty health checkup and awareness camp for its residents. This was held on Sunday Nov 20, 2022 between 9.00 am to 1.30 pm. MOHAN Foundation was invited to set an information desk by Dr. Shree Lakshmi of Shree Dental Clinic. Service minded people like doctors, counsellors, optometrists and others from various hospitals like Fortis Hospital, Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital, Shree Dental clinic joined the camp leaving their leisure time to help and benefit the public. The services available at the camp are enlisted below,
Ms. Arshiya Fathima H., Helpline Counselor and Ms. Vedhika N, Intern represented from MOHAN Foundation and set an information desk with flyers, green ribbons and registration forms. At first, people were quite hesitant to come and approach us, but as time went by, one by one they came themselves and learnt about the process of organ donation and clarified the myths that clouded their minds. About 25 members had come forward and we briefly explained to them about the registry process and gave them the brochures. All of them pledged to become organ donors and picked an organ donor card. Queries that the residents asked were How does MOHAN Foundation know of my death? If I have a disease can I take a donor card?
