On November 14, 2022, MOHAN Foundation was invited to attend a guest lecture on organ donation at SGT University, Gurugram which was organized by the Department of Medical & Health Sciences, SGT University to equip the doctors and medical students with the necessary knowledge on organ donation. Dr Satya Sharma, MBE, DL & Deputy Lieutenant West Midlands and Advisory Member, MOHAN Foundation was the speaker. Ms. Simran Anand and Ms. Preeti Goswami, Programme Officers, MOHAN Foundation-Delhi NCR attended the oration.
Dr Satya Sharma has retired from NHS (National Health Service) UK after serving for close to 35 years. He has been awarded several Honours and awards such as Member of the Order of the British Empire (like Padma Shree) awarded by HM the Queen & Excellent Global Indian award.
Dr. Satya gave a motivational talk on organ donation and emphasised the role of families and the importance of family consent in organ donation. Myths and facts about organ donation were also discussed. He made a special mention of the MOHAN Foundation, saying he was honoured to be associated with the Foundation, one of India's top non-governmental organisations working to promote organ donation. He also talked about his latest involvement in arranging a Memorandum of Understanding to share guidelines and protocols for all Commonwealth countries through a project called "Tribute to Life," launched by the Health Minister in Wolverhampton in March 2022. This has the support of 43 countries and the potential to benefit 2.3 billion people.
