MOHAN Foundation participates in a Conclave for Organ and Body Donation |
The Dadchichi Deh Dan Samiti organised a Swasth Sabal Bharat Conclave on Sept 3 & 4, 2022 in New Delhi. MOHAN Foundation was invited to be a part of this conclave and Dr Hemal Kanvinde represented the organization. The concave was organized under the able leadership of Mr Alok Kumar - Secretary of the Samiti. 60 delegates from 40 NGOs attended the conclave.
On day 1 there were three sessions: On the need to amend Law, Rules and establish protocols; to seat a national movement on body and organ donation and a consulting session. The Conclave was inaugurated by Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, Hon Health Minister, Govt of India. A report on a survey titled Awareness, perceptions, hesitancy and requirements by C Voter was presented by Mr. Yashwant Deshmukh. Other dignitaries were Prof Venugopal, Shri, Gangaprasad, Hon. Governor of Sikhim, Shri Sushil Modi, MP, Dr Ritu Jain, Consultant NOTTO, Dr Vimal Jain, Bihar, Dr Harsh Vardhan Ex Health Minister of India.
During the first session the speakers were : Dr Pranjal Modi, Mr Apte, Dr Vatsala Trivedi, Dr Harsha Jauhari, Dr Radhika Tandon and Dr. Arti Vij, The focus was on the need to have separate chapters on rules for deceased as well s living donation, have some protocols/checks when doctors are involved in illegal kidney translation, need for training in surgical skills and in certification of Brainstem death, to add Organ Donation in syllabus by NMC, all Government Medical Colleges to be registered as NTORC, establishment of eye banks in all district hospitals. Next session was on Creating a National Movement. Speakers with their suggestions were: Dr Manohar Agnani, Addl Secretary Ministry of Health, Dr Vimal Jain, Mr Deepak Ruia, Dr A K Bhalla, Dr. Rajesh Malhotra, Mr Sancheti. Points raised during the session was to : Identify a week in year to promote Body Donation, provision of free ambulance for body donation, focus of preventive education, rationalizing costs of cornea. The final session many NGOs were given an opportunity to speak about there work. Dr Hemal gave the following points :
At the end Mr Alok Kumar reiterated a need for a good working committee to start the work. The delegates requested him to be the Secretary of the “Body” and thanked him for the wonderful opportunity unity to meet and learn.
