On Aug 29, 2022 MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session at A.V.N Arts College, Andhra Pradesh to promote organ donation.Dr. Bhanu Prakash Transplant Coordinator from Hyderabad and Ms Sadika, Transplant Coordinator from Visakhapatnam were the key resources.

 

Mr.Simhadri Naidu the Principal of the college began the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation and gave a brief introduction on the scenario of Organ Donation in the country. Ms.Sadika Safeena discussed about the role of youth in promoting deceased organ in the country.

 

Dr. Bhanu Prakash started the session by asking a few introductory questions on Organ Donation and kept the audience engaged throughout the session. The following topics were discussed in detailed.

• The concepts of organ donation
• Brain Death and cardiac death
• Transplant Law
• Myths on Organ Donation
• Role of Jeevandhan, Andhra Pradesh
• The procedure to register as an Organ Donor

 

The participants enthusiastically contributed the session and a  short quiz on organ donation was conducted to further enhance their knowledge on the subject. The session was graced by the renowned Folk singer from AP – Gazal Vinod who sang a song about organ and blood donation in telugu which gave a strong message on organ donation.

 

Donor cards and brochures were distributed at the end of the session.Close to 200 students pledged to donate organs. In addition to this, Police Inspector - N.Rajeswari garu pledged for organ donation making the session a grand success.
