Dr. Rezvi Sheriff, from Sri Lanka visited MOHAN Foundation on 20th of March 2013.  The MOHAN Foundation staff had a nice opportunity to interact with him and understood the awareness level of organ donation and organ transplantation in the neighbouring island.

Ms. Veena, Marketing Coordinator of MOHAN Foundation gave a presentation on the SOPs followed in organ donation in RGGGH, Tamil Nadu to Dr. Rezvi Sheriff. Mrs. Sujatha, MIS MOHAN Foundation gave a presentation on the activities of MOHAN Foundation, especially on Transplant coordinator’s training programme.

Dr. Rezvi Sheriff one is among few people who are doing kidney transplants in Sri Lanka and giving people a second life.  He is the Director of the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine; Head of the Department of Clinical Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo. He is also a Consultant Physician and Nephrologist, National Hospital, Sri Lanka. He shared his experience in the field of organ transplantation. Also, he answered the questions asked by the MOHAN Foundation staff about the awareness level of Organ Donation in Sri Lanka, about the legal procedures followed in organ donation and the boom in private hospitals doing organ transplantation. He was very optimistic on the progress of organ transplantation in Sri Lanka. He requested the staff to show solidarity towards the Sri Lankans.
