'Kidney Transplant' Patient education workshop for dialysis patients and caregivers in Punjabi |
On May 21, 2022, MOHAN Foundation and its Patient Support Group- TRIOMPH (Transplant Recipients of India and Organ failure patients – a Movement to Provide Hope) conducted an interactive webinar on “Kidney Transplant- A Gift of Life”. This Patient Education Programme is supported by SBI Foundation and Sanofi. Mr Sudhir Dewan conducted a virtual workshop in Punjabi, for dialysis patients, caregivers and dialysis technicians along with NephroPlus Dialysis Centres in Chandigarh.
Mr. Sudhir began by introducing MOHAN Foundation and TRIOMPH - patient support group. He then discussed the various challenges faced by the dialysis patients and shared that there was an opportunity for the patients to lead a normal, good quality life - through kidney transplant. Thereafter, He shared information on -
Lastly he shared about the quality of life after a transplant and introduced Ms. Sukhwinder Kaur - a Kidney Recipient. Ms. Sukhwinder kaur shared that after being on dialysis for 6 years, she finally got a cadaveric kidney transplant done in Mumbai in 2012. Post transplant, she motivated herself to break many mental and physical barriers through running many marathons including Half & Full marathon, and cycling. She pushed herself to climb 40 floors during COVID times, took up running and walking challenges as well. She is also learning music, dilruba instrument & harmonium and has won medals in the same. She shared that she is now living her life very happily and freely.

This workshop had 30 live participants on zoom, 10 live participants on nephroplus Facebook live, 2 live participants on MOHAN FOUNDATION facebook and with had around 460 views altogether.
