On 28^th April 2022, A sensitisation program on organ donation and transplantation was conducted for the PG students of Neurosurgery Psychiatric Social Work Department at NIMHANS hospital Bengaluru. Mrs. Ranjini Shankar and Mr. Marulappa LN were the key resource people. Dr, to Dr. Kanmani T Raju of Psychiatric Social work department NIMHANS was instrumental in conducting the session.

The National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences (NIMHANS) is a medical institution in Bengaluru. It is the apex centre for mental health and neuroscience education in the country.

Mrs. Ranjini Shankar addressed the audience began the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation, its mission, vision and engaged the students by asking the participants about organ donation. The following topics were highlighted and discussed in detail:

• The concept of Organ donation and Transplantation
• Concepts of Brain and circulatory death
• Procedure of deceased organ donation and live organ donation and the procedure of deceased and living organ donation.
• Procedure of eye, skin, and bone donation.
• Role of Jeevasarthakathe.
• The importance of a donor card.
• Several common myths and facts on Organ donation and transplantation
• Barriers to organ donation
• Role of MOHAN foundation

Mrs. Ranjini Shankar MS, elaborated on the need an importance of Organ donation and also threw some light on MOHAN Foundation’s internship and volunteering program.

The students were extremely committed towards the cause and all the participants pledged to donate organs.
