Organ Donation awareness session conducted at Mominpura, Nagpur |
On 5th Nov 2021, MOHAN Foundation in association with Transplants – Help The Poor Foundation conducted an awareness talk on Organ Donation for general public. Mr Nikesh Ambade arranged this talk at open public place of Mominpura, Nagpur. Ms Prarthana Dwivedi began session by introducing MOHAN Foundation to the participants. She explained about the living donations and deceased donation and which organ can be donated after death. She added that there are a number of patients with end stage disease of organs like heart, lungs and liver who requires transplants too. The organs and tissues that can be donated while living and after a person dies of circulatory death were listed out. She then focused on brain stem death and listed out the organs and tissues that could be donated. She also spoke about how time was critical in transplanting organs from deceased donors. She then explained statistics of Organ Donation & why it is the need of the hour and where India stood on the global map of organ donation. Ms Prarthana Dwivedi discussed various myths and beliefs which led to low organ donation rate in the country. Also she invited participants to join in our volunteering program. Details of Organ donation Helpline No. 1800 103 7100 was also shared thus giving an outline about the MOHAN Foundation helpline number. Some of the questions asked were –
