On 11^th September 2021, representative from MOHAN (Multi Organ Harvesting Aid Network) Foundation in association with Transplants – Help The Poor Foundation conducted an awareness session on “Organ Donation” at Yashiv Dance Academy, Nagpur. The session was conducted under the guidance of Mrs. Richa Gupta and JCI Team.

The session began around 01:15 pm was attended by medico and non-medico crowd and lasted for around an hour. Ms Prarthana Dwivedi transplant coordinator conducted whole proceedings.

She explained about the concepts of organ donation, why and when is transplantation required, which organs that can be donated, types of donors, types of death, viability of organs after retrieval, difference between brain death and coma, Transplantation of Human Organs Act, Myths and misconceptions related to organ donation. Lastly details of Organ Donation Helpline No. 1800 103 7100 was also shared. The following were a few questions asked:

• What are the organs that can be donated while living?
• How to enrol for volunteer program?
• How will a family know about a registered organ donors’ wish after his death?

About 82 participants including doctors attended the session. Around 35 pledges were taken and few were taken online. MOHAN Foundation is thankful to Mrs. Richa Gupta (JCI) and Yashiv Dance Academy for supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
