On 13^th August 2021, MOHAN Foundation in association with Transplants – Help The Poor Foundation conducted an online awareness session on COVID 19 and Organ Donation for Teaching staff and Non-teaching staff of Janta High School, Wani. Dr Dilip Sontakke coordinated the session for school staff.

Ms Prarthana Dwivedi began session by explaining the precaution which can protect us from COVID pandemic. She explained there are a number of steps people can take to protect yourself and those around them. The World Health Organization (WHO) says the "most effective" protective measures are the following: cleaning your hands regularly, properly covering your mouth when you cough and social distancing.

Ms Prarthana Dwivedi began the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation, its mission, vision and activities to the participants. She explained concepts of Organ Donation and explained which organs can be donated, types of donation, living donation, cadaver donation. She also explained the process of donation and transplantation statistics over the years. She debunked common myths associated with organ donation.

The organs and tissues that can be donated while living and after a person dies of circulatory death were listed out. She then focused on brain stem death and listed out the organs and tissues that could be donated. She also spoke about how the time is very crucial factor in transplanting organs from deceased donors.

She ended the talk by giving an outline about the MOHAN Foundation helpline number. Some of the questions asked were –

• How we enrol for transplant.
• Can Cirrhosis patients donate their organs?

Ms Prarthana Dwivedi answered all the queries promptly. Around 22 participants attended the session. MOHAN Foundation would like to thank Janta High School, Wani for inviting us & supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
