On December 4, 2012 an awareness talk on organ donation was conducted by MOHAN Foundation (MF) Delhi for the employees of NTT DATA Global Delivery Services Ltd at their Noida office. NTT DATA is the 6th largest global IT services company and part of the NTT Group, a Fortune 29 telecommunications and IT services company based in Japan. An employee from the company, who wished to donate the organs of his mother while she was critical, but could not get it done as Apnoea test for Brain Death Certification was not positive was keen on creating awareness on the subject at his place of work. It could be soon organized as part of the Global Volunteer Week celebrated PAN India across all the office locations. NTT DATA representatives will co-ordinate with MF centers at Bangalore and Hyderabad as well for such a session.
The session covered key issues like need for organ donation, current statistics on end stage organ failure, organ donation rate, brain death and legal aspects of organ donation and myths around organ donation. Questions were raised on how long can different organs be stored after retrieval, will MF co-ordinate in rural areas as well, what if a facility does have ventilator support etc
About 60 employees from different departments attended the talk. At the end of the session important helpline numbers for eye donation, organ donation and whole body donation were also shared. MF's Delhi team will also be conducting an awareness talk at their Gurgaon Office.
