On 9^th February 2021, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Dr. S. K. Shabana, DC/SMO at Regional Training Centre of the CISF at Arakkonam, Tamil Nadu, to conduct an awareness session for the CISF Jawans.  The team comprising of Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, Q&A Officer and Mr. T S Sivashankar, Marketing Executive, of MOHAN Foundation, Mr. Umar Nath and Mr. Naveen Antony, interns from Madras Medical Mission College of Health Sciences conducted the sessions. Around 150 CISF Jawans undergoing a refresher course training and their family members attended the session. A registration desk for organ pledging was set up and manned by the interns.

In the first segment, Dr. Hemal spoke on concepts of organ donation and transplantation, highlighted the need for donation, what organs can be donated and who can become donors. She also emphasized on speaking to family members about the wish to become a donor.

Mr. Sivashankar then played a video in Hindi, explaining brain death and also conducted a quiz on organ donation. The winners were given a badge.

The last segment featured was a role play session on helping the audience understand the complexities involved in a deceased donation scenario. Some of the audience were assigned placards with a stakeholder name and their role was explained.

The discussion after the session was about the need for taking the message of organ donation to the villages and smaller towns; how to register in the waiting list to get an organ; will MOHAN Foundation collect organs from the hospital; can elderly people donate; and how to get involved in the cause. 15 people registered as donors.
