MOHAN Foundation, Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance & Rotary joins hands to motivate people about organ donation |
On 9th Nov 2019, Rotary Club of Kharghar Midtown (District 3131), Rotary at Navi Mumbai (District 3142), in association with Punjabi Cultural & Welfare Association, Kharghar arranged a workshop on Organ Donation Awareness, inviting MOHAN UK's Dr Satya Sharma as the Chief Guest and MOHAN Foundation's Mrs Jaya Jairam as one of the speakers. The workshop was supported by Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance.
The workshop was attended by around 100 Rotarians and Rotaracters. Dr Satya Sharma, who is the ambassador for organ donation at NHSBT (UK) spoke beautifully while quoting real life instances of how people can be motivated to support the wonderful cause that had the potential to save many lives. His powerful words, "If we are ready to take (organs), we must be ready to give" left a deep imprint in everyone's minds and set them thinking.
Mrs Jaya Jairam spoke about how she is testimonial to the miracle of organ donation and transplantation, by sharing her experience of how she got a second chance when her mother decided to donate one of her kidneys to save her when she was critically ill with kidney failure.
Mr Kumar Gaurav, Brand Head at Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance spoke about how they are driving the much needed awareness about organ donation, in partnership with MOHAN Foundation. Dr Rahul Gupta, Cardiologist at Apollo Hospital spoke about concepts of organ donation and Rtn Dr Tushar Muni spoke about eye donation and the need.
The entire workshop had been organised by Rtn Bhal Shekhar Chilana, who is also a Life member with MOHAN Foundation and he himself had driven 23000KM from Mumbai to London, in partnership with MOHAN Foundation, spreading awareness across 19 countries. His daughter who resides in UK is a kidney transplant recipient herself. |
