On 17^th Nov 2019, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Rtn Tejinder Singh, District Chairman – Organ Donation Lions Club International (Dist 3231A2) at Thane West for giving awareness about the Organ Donation to their Society members and Lions Club members.

Rtn Tejinder Singh introduced Dr Jimmy to the audience and also spoke about the importance of such awareness to the community. Dr Jimmy held an awareness session and introduced Mohan Foundation, its mission, vision and philanthropy. She then introduced the concept of Organ and tissue donation. She also explained the types of death viz. Cardiac and Brain Death and the organs and tissues that can be donated. She elaborated the procedure about bone donation which was new topic for the public. She also described that tissue donation (skin & eyes) can happen even at home which caught attention of the crowd. She then discussed about Organ Donations that can happen in case of Brain Dead case and number of lives that can be saved by giving the examples of successful transplant stories articles and news about green corridor which was somewhat familiar to the gathering. She then addressed about the myths about Organ Donation public has & how we can debunk them by illustrating the real facts about Organ Donation. Also they were invited to join in our volunteering program. Details of Organ donation Helpline No. 1800 103 7100 was also shared.

                About 25 people attended the awareness session. About 5 pledges were taken & few were filled online. We thank Rtn Tejinder Singh for inviting us and supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
