The Akhil Bhartiya Marwadi Mahila Sammelan (ABMMS) of India, in association with MOHAN Foundation, attempted a feat supporting the organ donation cause, which would go on to be a part of the India Book of Records.  Members of the all women group had organized 18 rallies in total across various parts of the country, starting off at the same time on the 31^st August 2019.

The Chennai chapter had organized rallies in two different parts of the city – Ayanavaram and Mogappair. Ms. Ishwarya Thyagarajan and accompanied the Aynavaram group in the rally that started off at Rajasthan Youth Association (RYA) Cosmo Foundation - Shantidevi Jawaharmal Chandan Day Care and Diagnostic Centre, proceeded through Otteri, and ended at the North Town – Ekanta residential complex in Perambur.

The event began with registration at the RYA hospital where all the participants had assembled. Green ribbons, ABMMS badges and caps, banners and placards bearing organ donation slogans to be held during the rally, were distributed. Members of the RYA men’s and women’s wings Mr. Suraj Kankaria and Ms. Dimpy Jain addressed the participants alongside Mrs. Sharda Aggarwal, President of ABMMS Chennai wing. The RYA men’s wing member Mr. Kankaria shared his personal experience involving the death of family member due to organ failure and emphasized on the importance of donating one’s organs. All the speakers thanked and encouraged the participants for their enthusiasm and commitment.

The rally was flagged off at 10:30 AM from RYA and women of all ages braved the traffic and enthusiastically walked towards their destination which was 4.5KM away. Upon arriving at the destination at around 11:30 AM the group was joined by Dr. Hemal Kanvinde of MOHAN Foundation who distributed certificates of participation to the women of the group. There were 40 women who were part of the rally and every one of them also pledged their organs and received donor cards.

The event came to a close with some refreshments and photo sessions. MOHAN Foundation is glad to be associated with the Akhil Bhartiya Marwadi Mahila Sammelan, appreciates its efforts and looks forward to the future collaborations.
