MOHAN Foundation sets up an Information Stall at SNDJA Vivekananda Vidyalaya School |
Smt. Narbada Devi J Agarwal Vivekananda Vidyalaya Junior College, Vyasarpadi, Chennai organized a Blood, Eye, Cancer and Organ donation cum awareness camp at their school premises on Sep 16, 2018. MOHAN Foundation was invited to set up a stall for spreading awareness on organ donation. Ishwarya Thyagarajan, Helpline Executive from MOHAN Foundation, accompanied by two Angels of Change, Ajith and Yuvaraj from Thiruthangal Nadar College were the resource people. The programme began with an inaugural address by the Smt. J. Jayalakshmi, Vice-Principal, followed by a keynote speech by the acting Correspondent of the school Shri. K.E. Srinivasan who spoke about the importance of blood and eye donation. Ms. Ishwarya and the other Chief Guests were presented mementos by the school management. Ishwarya explained the concept of organ donation to the stall visitors that included the teachers, parents of students and others who had come to donate blood. The organ donation concept was very new to most of them and they had questions relating to transplantation, live donations, transplant waitlist, etc. The Angels distributed green ribbons to the visitors and explained its significance. The stall had information brochures on organ donation and donor cards. The stall which was open from 9 AM to 2 PM received many visitors of whom 54 registered and supported organ donation by pledging their organs and receiving their donor cards.
