The alumni of 1989 – 1993 Batch of Agriculture Department, Annamalai University, Chidambaram celebrated their Silver Jubilee Reunion with a talk on Organ Donation. They invited MOHAN Foundation to speak on the topic on 19^th May 2018 on 9:30 AM. Mr. Siva Shankar from MOHAN Foundation, Chennai was deputed for this event.

Main guests for the event were Prof. Dr. S. Manian, Vice Chancellor, Dr. K. Arumugam, Registrar and Mr. N. Murugumaran, MLA - Kathumannar Kovil Constituency and other staff from the Faculty of Agriculture. Mr. Siva Shankar started the session with the need of Organ Donation and the Statistics of the patients with organ failure in Tamil Nadu.

He explained the following in detail:

1. The organs that can be donated
2. Organ donation at each stage i.e., while living, after death and brain death
3. Circulatory Death, Brain Death and Coma
4. Myths on Organ Donation
5. Age criteria for Organ Donation
6. Donor Card and Helpline Number
7. Government Authority which allocates organs (TRANSTAN)

The session went on for around 30 minutes. 80 alumni with their families (200 in all) attended the session on which 20 members took their donor cards and supported Organ Donation. There were some questions asked by the participants and they are as follows:

1. Can Uterus can be donated after brain death?
2. To whom should we call when a death happens?
3. Can organs be donated if the patient is Diabetic and has BP?
4. Stages at which organs can’t be donated?

The topic of Organ Donation was chosen by Mr. V. Venkatesh and Mr. G. Kumar who registered as Organ Donors some days back. The Chief Guests honored both of them by giving them a big donor card. MOHAN Foundation thanks Mr. G. Kumar who organised the event and supported Organ Donation.
