Sathyabama University conducts an Organ Donation awareness on Valentine’s day |
On 14th Feb 2018, Sathyabama university invited MOHAN foundation to conduct an awareness program on organ donation. It was a great way to celebrate this Valentine’ Days by helping others to know how we can show our love to others by sharing the organs and giving life to those in need. The 350 student participants were from different departments of engineering courses. The session began with a welcome address by Ms. Ajantha, Dept. of EEE.
The session started with a short video from MOHAN foundation portraying the need for organ donors. Mr. Siva Shankar, Helpline Executive, MOHAN Foundation gave an elaborate talk on the concepts of organ donation. He spoke on -
To our surprise few students even knew what green corridor is all about. During the session few games were also conducted to keep them invested in the talk. Students were more aware about organ donation in social media. They listed down movies, in which information regarding organ donation were conveyed. Following the presentation students were given time to ask doubts. There were many students who approached individually and asked their doubts. Some of the interesting questions were as follow:
Thereby the presentation came to an end with a video presentation on organ donation promotion. Mr. Ernest, from the Dept. of CSC gave a short quote about organ donation. He stated that “There are many people striving hard and waiting to save your organ after you die and make your organs live; hence be a proud organ donor”. The vote of thanks was later offered by Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim, Community Club President from the Dept. of Bio-Medical.
Following the talk students were given a choice to opt in and become an organ donor. Around 79 students had signed up as organ donors. |
