CME on Organ Transplantation at Tagore Medical College (TMCH), Melakottaiyur, Kanchipuram District |
Department of Community Medicine organized Continuing Medical Education (CME) on Organ Transplantation on July 25, 2017 at the Auditorium, 4thFloor, TMCH. This was organized with the support of the Angels of Change trained in June 2017 by MOHAN Foundation. Around 350 students and staff of TMCH attended the CME.
Inauguration of the CME was presided by Dr. Shantha, M.D, PhD, Dean, Dr. Guna Sekharan, M.D, DTCD, Academic Dean, Dr. Thirunarayanan, M.S, Medical Superintendent, TMCH. The distinguished chief guest Dr. Amalorpavanathan, M.S, Chief Transplant Co-ordinator, Apollo Hospitals, Chennai, esteemed surgeons, Dr. Sujith, Kidney Transplant Surgeon from Stanley College, Dr. Anand Babu, M.S, D.O, Chief-Cornea Services, Madras Medical College, Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Chennai, faculties from TMCH, Dr. Hari Sudan, M.D, D. Neurologist, Assistant Professor, Department of General Medicine, Dr. Sree T. Sucharitha, MD, Associate Professor, Department of Community Medicine participated in the lighting of the lamp. The Angels of Change, TMCH, who underwent the volunteer training program under MOHAN Foundation screened their documentary film “CROSS ROADS” which highlighted the issues related to organ transplantation. The CME addressed a range of topics related with Organ Transplantation including Brain Stem death certification criteria, legal framework to promote organ donation and transplantation in India, current surgical protocols in Kidney and Corneal transplantations and dissemination of activities carried by medico-volunteers to raise awareness on organ donation among professional course students and auto drivers of Chennai. The CME concluded with the National Anthem and thanking all the participants and staff for logistic support. |
