On 19th April 2017 MOHAN Foundation was invited to conduct a training on the Role of an Investigating Officer in Brain Death and Organ Donation. The training was attended by Sub Inspectors and Head Constables from Chennai City, Villupuram, and Railway police under the Avadi Police Recruitment School (PRS). Totally 43 police personnel participated in the session and showed their support to the noble cause. The talk was given in the campus of the Police Training College, Ashok Nagar. Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, Quality Assurance Officer, Ms.Sunitha, Transplant Coordinator and Mr. Siva Shankar, Helpline Executive represented MOHAN Foundation. The session started with a brief note on Organ Donation by Mr. Siva Shankar who spoke on the following points.

There were discussions on the role of the IO and duty of the outpost police, whether post-mortem report is needed or not. The day ended with Dr. Hemal Kanvinde conducted MCQs to analyse their understanding about the concept of organ donation and brain death. Finally Ms. Sunitha thanked the police officers for their support and cooperation. Everyone picked a donor card and pledged to help donor families to receive the donor's body as soon as possible.
