On 11 November 2016, to celebrate the birthday of Mr. Hansraj Ahir, Ministry of Home Affairs, the Sarpanch of Rajura Gram Panchayat, Chandrapur District,  Mr. Hemant Gurpude invited MOHAN Foundation to organize a program on  Organ Donation Awareness  for the public.   

 Ms. Kanchan Shewde Transplant Coordinator of MOHAN Foundation, Nagpur Center was deputed to conduct the event. She gave talk through audio & visual means. She gave information about need for organs, the legal and ethical aspects of organ donation and the process of pledging to organs. She explained the difference between cardiac death and brain death, which organ can be donated after cardiac death and brain death. The importance of Donor card how it helps people to donate organs and create awareness, the value of wearing a helmet. She requested the audience to use MOHAN Foundation website and helpline number to gain more understanding on the subject.

 Question asked by audience:

1) If I sign consent form and after my death who is right person  to give permission to donate my organ ?

2) If my death will be Chandrapur and my family is ready to donate my organ than how it will be happen?

3) Whom to contact for Eye donation?  

The session highlighted how they can be part of this noble cause by pledging their organs and how it can help other in joining the cause. 25 members of BJP Youth Wing  attended the session and 7 of them picked a donor card.
