The Railway Police Force (RPF) was established after the World War 2 to safeguard property as well as the passengers and goods on the trains. This year was their 6oth Raising year and they were celebrating it for a week. On 26th September 2016, the last day they organised a medical camp and talks on various medical issues. MOHAN Foundation was invited to speak on Organ Donation. Dr. Hemal Kanvinde represented MOHAN Foundation. Senior RPF Inspector Shri. Karuppa Swamy welcomed the speakers and the audience. He also mentioned the activities and the additional roles and responsibilities of the RPF. The first talk was given by Chief Matron ICF Hospital, Ms. Susheela on management of stress. Dr Hemal spoke on the concepts of organ donation. The need for organs, what can be donated, brain death and the legal procedure and the role of police in organ donation were some of the topics covered. Queries were on whole body donation, cornea donation and the importance of family in organ donation. The talk was held at the Advanced Welding Training Institute auditorium and was attended by about 50 staff of RPF. Medical check up of BP, blood sugar and registration for organ donation was set up. 5 of them picked a donor card. We thank volunteer Mr. Santhosh for initiating the program at RPF – ICF campus. |
