On 30th March 2016, 15 young women were in for a surprise when they came in to start their duty.  Along with their morning tea, Ms. Indhu the Manager of Josie‘s Beauty Palour had organized an information session on Organ Donation.  Ms. Gieetha Transplant Coordinator from MOHAN Foundation, conducted the talk as part of the International Women’s Day Campaign.  The aim of the talk was to spread awareness among the women on the importance of organ donation and transplantation.  

Ms. Gieetha started the session with the introduction about MOHAN Foundation and highlighted the purpose of doing the programme with the women’s group. Later she explained about the concept of organ donation and highlighted the following points:

• What is organ donation?
• Types of donation
• Natural Death and Brain Death
• Myths on organ donation
• Donor Card

Totally 15 beauticians participated in the talk and expressed their support for the concept. Ms.Gieetha thanked Ms.Indhu the Manager of the parlour for giving the opportunity to interact with her employees.

Few queries were raised during the interaction were-

• Whom should we contact for eye donation after natural death?
• Is that the organs are given to needy people for free of cost?
• How long does it take for harvesting the skin?
