MOHAN Foundation conducts an interactive session on organ donation for NCC cadets at Kancheepuram

National Cadets Corps of TNGroup A, invited MOHAN Foundation to give an awareness talk on Organ Donation to their young cadets. The talk was organized at 3 (TN) Battalion NCC, Kancheepuram on 23.02.2016. The event was organized by Lt. Colonel Pankaj Sharma. By talking to them about organ donation, the NCC aimed at motivating them towards selfless service.

 

Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, Quality Assurance Manager and Ms. Gieetha, Transplant Coordinator, were deputed from MOHAN Foundation. Nearly 500 cadets from class 8th to college students were present during the talk.  The program began by a quiz on health and organ and tissue donation conducted by Ms. Gieetha. The cadets actively participated and answered the all the questions.

 

Following that Dr. Hemal and Ms. Gieetha spoke on who can donate, what organ can be donated, when they can be donated, how to pledge for Organ donation, when an individual can pledge  to donate their organs.  The session lasted for more than one hour.

 

The cadets raised many questions like:

  1. Whether a short sighted person can donate his organs?
  2. In a movie, it was shown that a lady’s organ was given to another person by submitting false document, is that act was right or wrong?
  3. Whether transplanted organs can be donated?
  4. How long the organs are stored?
  5. How are organ allotted?
  6. Are the hospitals selling organs?

All questions were answered. Information brochures were distributed.

After this event the MOHAN Foundation staff interacted with the NCC staff at the camp. Many of the staff members came with their queries about organ donation 90 cadets and staff picked a donor card.
