On 11th July 2015 MOHAN Foundation was invited to conduct a talk on Role of Investigating Officer in Brain Death and Organ Donation. The training was attended by the Inspectors, Sub Inspectors and Head Constable from Vellore and Tiruvannamalai Districts under the Service Training Centre, Vellore Range. The aim of the programme was to make them understand their role in the successful multi organ donation after brain death. Agenda of the day
Ms. A. T. Sunitha Transplant Coordinator MOHAN Foundation started the session with a short film on explaining the Concept of Organ Donation after that she covered the following topic during her session Concept of organ donation, The Transplantation of Human Organs Act, Difference between Cardiac death, Brain Death and Coma and Protocol followed in Government hospital for MLC organ donation. Ms. A. T. Sunitha shared her experience in coordinating the deceased organ donation in Government Hospital. She discussed how time was very important and how the police should understand that this is a life saving situation and must come as soon as possible to complete the inquest. Also explained about Cadaver Transplant Programme in Tamilnadu and the process of Organ Allocation.
Totally 33 police officials attended the talk and all pledged to donate organs and picked a donor card. Finally Ms. Sunitha thanked the police officers for the support and cooperation. Queries asked by the participants
