Students of Karunya Business School attend a workshop on Organ Donation in Coimbatore |
On 27th September, 2014 a Workshop on Concepts of Organ Donation was organized at Karunya University Business School. MOHAN Foundation, Chennai was invited to partner and identify key speakers for the workshop. It was organized under the leadership of Dr. Kathikeyan Head of Extension activities and in association with members of Leadership and Management Club, CHS Club, Y's Youth Club and a few units of NSS Club. Around 200 students attended the session.
Dr. Vijay of GKNM Hospital explained about brain death and organ donation. His talk was an eye opener on how valuable the gift of life is. The other speakers at the workshop were Mr. Lekshmana Nathan of Seethar Hospital and Dr. Sheila Daniel from Sheesha.
Mr. Ananth R, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, Chennai addressed the gathering and explained about the various concepts related to deceased organ donation.

At the end of the session he also explained the importance of the donor card. Totally 200 students were present and 174 students expressed their wish to pledge for organ donation by picking up the donor card.
The students planned to take this concept to their adopted villages. 300 donor cards and brochures were handed over to Mr. Sukumar for their extension activities. |
