On February 26, 2025, MOHAN Foundation, in collaboration with Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat, conducted an organ donation awareness talk at the Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Khergao, Imphal-East, Manipur. The session was led by Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Programme Officer, MOHAN Foundation.

Mr. Gailian Kamei, Transplant Coordinator assisting in the renal transplant program at JNIMS, integrated the talk into the fieldwork conducted by the Department of Community Medicine, JNIMS. This initiative aimed to educate the public on the importance and process of organ donation, encouraging more individuals to consider becoming donors. The session also covered the detection and prevention of hypertension and other non-communicable diseases.

Ms. Monica introduced the MOHAN Foundation and its efforts to promote deceased organ donation in Imphal. She highlighted the development of the renal transplant program at JNIMS and emphasized the broader need for organ donation in society. She explained the different types of organ donation, including those possible during life and after brain death. Additionally, she provided an overview of the Manipur State Eye Bank and its role in the community. She concluded by urging healthcare workers and community members to support and advocate for the cause.

The audience comprised doctors, postgraduate medical students, paramedical staff, and patients present at the UPHC premises. During the talk, nearly 30 participants gained valuable insights into organ donation.
