On January 16, 2025, the Zonal Transplant Coordination Centre (ZTCC) of Nagpur organized a prestigious Deceased Donor Felicitation Program at Vanamati, Nagpur, to honor the selfless contributions of organ donors and their families. The event was attended by prominent figures from the medical community and organizations dedicated to advancing organ donation and transplantation.

Dr. Anil Kumar, Director of the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. His presence highlighted the significance of coordinated efforts in the field of organ transplantation. Alongside him were several distinguished guests, including Dr. Sanjay Kolte, President of ZTCC Nagpur; Dr. Rahul Saxena, Secretary of ZTCC Nagpur; Dr. Vibhavari Dani, a respected medical professional; Dr. Devashish Shaha, a renowned ophthalmologist and actor; Dr. P.K. Deshpande, an eminent cardiologist; Dr. Viresh Gupta; and Dr. Manish Shrigiriwar from AIIMS Nagpur.

The ceremony saw the felicitation of 39 donor families, each recognized for their extraordinary act of generosity, which has significantly improved the lives of recipients. The emotional tributes paid to these families by the chief guests and the medical community underscored the profound impact of their decision to donate organs.

In addition, GMCH Nagpur was honored with the Organ Donation Champion Award for its exceptional contribution to organ donation efforts. The hospital was also recognized for identifying the most potential organ donors, highlighting the crucial role healthcare institutions play in promoting and facilitating organ donation.
